School of Public Security

    School of Public Security, established to recruit students in the year of 2,000, is a school for both undergraduate education and graduate education. With strong ability to train public security professionals and make scientific research, it is an important public security talent training and research base in Northwest China. In 2009, the school was recognized by the Central Commission of Politics and Law as an experimental unit of recruiting and cultivating public security professionals for Shaanxi province. 
The school has three undergraduate programs---Investigation Science, Public Security Science, and Criminal Science and Technology, and one graduate program--- Investigation Science and Law of Police. Now, it has about 840 undergraduate students and 20 graduate students.

    The school consists of four teaching and research sections: Investigation Science, Public Security, Frontier Management, Criminal Science and Technology; two institutes: Modern Criminal Investigation, Anti-terrorism Crime; and one evidence experiment center. The Evidence Experiment Center is a State-level evidence experimental teaching demonstration center, covering the area of more than 4,000 square meters, with more than 700 sets of experiment equipments valuing 6.40 million RMB. The specialized labs for the exploration of simulating criminal scenes, criminal image technology, testing traces, testing legal document, criminal photos, contact evidence and drug inspection, forensic evidence, DNA testing, criminal psychological tests, security technology, fire safety, and detection and analysis of traffic accidents, fully meet the needs of experimental teaching and learning.

    The school has a faculty of 25 full-time teachers of whom 4 are professors and 12 are associate professors. Courses for undergraduates are Essential Theories of Public Security, Criminology, Criminal Psychology, Scene Exploration, Investigation Measures, Economic Crime Detection, Arrestment Tactics, Traces Testing, Document Detection, Criminal Image Technology, Contact Evidence Analysis, Forensic Science, Order Management, Traffic Management, Dangerous Goods Management, and Investigation of Public Security Cases.

    Up to now, the school has cultivated about 1,400 high-level qualified professionals. They are distributed among the various organs of public security, the customs, the state security, the civil aviation, the railways, the forest, the military security, and the frontier, and they have been contributing greatly to the legal construction, regional economic construction and social development of China.
